Ritz Camera Up For Sale
by admin on Jul.08, 2009, under Industry News
Ritz Camera, which filed for Chapter 11 in February, is looking to sell or liquidate all or part of its business or auction all of its assets.
As you may recall from my previous posts, Ritz has already closed half of its 800 camera stores in a going-out-of-business sale that started in March.
Ritz turning out the lights

Big news — Ritz Camera gears down by closing 300 stores. Many people not surprised at all. This chain camera store is considered the nation’s largest camera and imaging products store. Where did this distinction come from?
There must be five or more Ritz Camera stores locally and all have little inventory on hand. Never any late-model Nikon or Canon DSLR’s. The clerk will be overjoyed to order it in for you from some warehouse. No point to that.
Name brand accessories? Hardly. Ritz relies on point’n'click digital cameras and lousy 4×5 prints.
Film? – — none! The nation’s largest camera store doesn’t carry film.
So glad to support real, authentic camera stores like Dan’s Camera City and real pro shops like Professional Photographic Services.
