Walmart’s early holiday sales begins this Saturday with a week-long CE sales event.  It is the first of several planned CE sales events prior to the holiday.

• 42-inch Sharp 1080p/120Hz LCD TV for $498;
• $298 Hewlett-Packard notebook;
• Sony BDP-S360 Blu-ray Disc player,  $148
• Xbox 360 Arcade Console and a $100 Walmart gift card for $199

“Each holiday season we focus on delivering a better price on quality entertainment and electronics, and this season is no different… We’re excited about our electronics event that starts Saturday. It will be evident through the coming weeks that this year Walmart will offer more opportunities for our customers to save than ever before,” said Gary Severson, Walmart’s entertainment senior VP.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is remodeling their electronics departments in more than 3500 U.S. stores this week. The remodeling effort further emphasizes their aggressive battle with Best Buy Co. and Amazon.com for the piece of pie left in Circuit City’s wake.

Wal-Mart continues to augment offerings of higher-end televisions by Sony and Samsung and its array of Blu-Ray players and movies.
